How to Structure Guarantees so They Don’t Cripple You

One of the easiest ways to boost your sales is with a strong guarantee.

But many don’t offer guarantees out of the false assumption
you need to put your entire business on the line.

“There’s no way I’d make a guarantee” they say.

For instance, if you’re a builder, you’re not going to offer a
“money back if you’re not entirely satisfied” guarantee.

I understand.

That would be nothing short of crazy.

Especially if it was based purely on a subjective view of satisfaction.

Think about it.

You might be putting 3 months of your life into it, shelling out
thousands of dollars to your team, and be working on 20% margins.

It could take you 3 years of jobs to get back to square one.

Same goes with anyone who has tight margins.

For example, if you’re selling something on 2% margins, it
doesn’t make a lot of sense to offer these sort of guarantees.

You get a 1% or 2% take up rate and you’re a dead duck.

But you should still make a guarantee.


By looking at what you can guarantee that matters to your
customers, and you can deliver on 99% of the time.

For instance, you might be able to guarantee time… or speed.

Truth is, most people get it wrong with guarantees.

But you won’t.
